About Us
Envision Hearing
Is a locally owned and independent audiology clinic in Ottawa, led by a Doctor of Audiology (AuD). Our practice has a primary clinical focus on the assessment and management of Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), tinnitus, and decreased sound tolerance.

Unlike hearing clinics that offer a broad range of hearing healthcare services, our practice is specifically dedicated to these areas. This allows us to devote our time, expertise, and clinical resources to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for children, adolescents, and adults.

These conditions can occur together, and our integrated approach allows us to provide coordinated care within one clinic. For example, some individuals with APD also experience tinnitus or decreased sound tolerance. Rather than requiring referrals to multiple providers, patients can access specialized assessment and management for these related conditions at Envision Hearing when appropriate. This integrated approach has established Envision Hearing as one of Ottawa's leading independent clinics dedicated to the assessment and management of APD, tinnitus, and decreased sound tolerance.

Our mission
Improve the quality of life of patients by providing exceptional customer service and patient-centered care.

Foster an environment of inclusivity, respect, compassion and empathy.

Improve patient care through professional development and collaboration with other healthcare providers such as speech-language pathologists, psychologists, otolaryngologists, occupational therapists, and educators.

Our vision
Each person served will live a more fully-engaged life by helping them achieve their hearing healthcare goals.

Frequently Asked Questions (APD)

At Envision Hearing, Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) is not simply one of many services we provide—it is our primary clinical focus. While many general audiology clinics offer a broad range of hearing healthcare services, our practice is specifically focused on the assessment and management of APD. We take a holistic approach to every assessment. In addition to evaluating auditory processing abilities, we screen for sensory, attention, cognitive, and behavioural factors that may influence listening and communication. We recognize that some individuals with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) also experience tinnitus and sound intolerance. When present, these concerns can be further explored through dedicated assessment and management services at Envision Hearing.

Frequently Asked Questions (Tinnitus & DST)

Our approach goes beyond a standard hearing test. Tinnitus and sound intolerance are often influenced by more than just the auditory system, and our assessment looks at the full picture. In addition to evaluating the auditory system, we also screen for sensory factors that may contribute to increased sound sensitivity. Some tinnitus is influenced by muscle and nerve input from other parts of the body. We also perform a physical examination of the jaw and neck to check for somatosensory tinnitus.

Auditory Processing Disorder

To understand speech, we hear with our ears and understand with our brain; our ears detect sound while our brain gives it meaning. An Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), also referred to as Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) is a condition in which the brain has difficulty interpreting, organizing and recognizing sounds despite the presence of normal peripheral hearing sensitivity.
